Lauren holds a DNAP degree from ESAD Saint-Etienne and a master's degree from the Contextual Design Department at the Design Academy Eindhoven.
She is a freelance designer.

‘I consider design as a useful tool to enrich our physical interactions with our environment. Through their use, objects act as a link between our body and the appropriation of space. An object, by its sculptural, tactile or movement qualities, can bring pleasure or satisfaction to the user'.

This collection of mirrors is the culmination of a long series of experiments involving the casting of plaster into a textile material. Thought flat, through the drawing, their volume setting is governed exclusively by the physical properties of the cast material and those of the fabric used for the mould. Their volume setting is beyond the control of the designer. The final object is a mechanical movement fixed in the material. The eye is then confused between this impression of softness and the solidity of the material. From these pastel and swollen flesh emanates a comforting atmosphere conducive to contemplation induced by the mirror. The typology of the mirror is transformed, it becomes an exuberant and imperfect object.

MATERIALS :
plaster, pigments, glass mirror, aluminium

DIMENSIONS :
H 49 x 35 x 13 cm

unique piece, reproducible with slight differences, handmade in France, 2020.
