KOTAA by ROBIN SANCHEZ
From log to stool, there is only one step. KOTAA stool highlights the wood in its most natural form. Starting from the trunk of the tree to arrive at a functional object, with the minimum of intervention, such is the objective of this project. KOTAA reinterprets the essential gestures of woodworking: splitting, debarking, planing, cutting... in order to preserve the shape and the raw aspect of the tree trunk. The result is an optimization of local resources through this transformation.
KOTAA can be used as a stool or a side table.
Designer and wood craftsman, graduated from the ESAD of Reims (France) in 2019, Robin installs his studio near Toulouse (FR) where he puts into practice the principles of an ecosystemic design.
His production puts forward a sober and timeless aesthetic privileging the functionality and leaving room for the reflection of each. He works from traditional know-how associated with an biotopic design approach. Thus, his creations highlight the properties of wood, wicker or any other natural materials. Robin favors manual work in order to highlight the gestures, the trace of the tools and the manufacturing processes. The small series or the differentiated series are for him synonymous of quality and control of the production.
Each realization privileges an implementation starting from local raw or secondary materials developing the resources and the dies of the territory.
