LEMON VENUS by NITSA MELETOPOULOS
‘This piece is a vase/sculpture and is a unique piece. It was made by gluing (pre- and post-firing) different moulded and modelled elements. This vase is an allegory, it is Venus that is born from water, one of the Della Robbia lemons, it is fruit and rock, Gainsbourg and acid desire.’
Nitsa Meletopoulos obtained her DNSEP at the ‘Beaux-Arts d'Avignon’ (FR) in 2010. She creates sculptures, collages and in-situ installations. During a residency in Leipzig (DE) in 2013 she works with clay and it is a revelation. This was followed by a 4-year stay in Leipzig. She works for a ceramics factory as a painter, at the same time she co-manages the cultural platform and the Franco-German Fugitive Artistic Residency. In 2018 she returns to France to study ceramics more deeply and technically at the Maison de la céramique de Dieulefit. She graduated last October and is currently working in Burgundy (FR) in a collective workshop.
