MEXICHÊNE by THIRY FILLIATREAU

Thiry-Filliatreau (FR) develop their design practice around the research and the experimentation of materials by exploring the different arts and crafts.

This passion for materials experimentation and the back and forth between theory and practice was born at Design Academy Eindhoven in the Netherlands and LaCambre, Brussels, where they did their design training. Thereafter, they continued their apprenticeship with ceramists from Jingdhezen, Lava stone sculptors from Guadalajara, SO-IL New York architects.

Today their projects are punctuated by artistic residencies with craftsmen from all backgrounds of life to feed their never ending curiosity for manufacturing processes, working for major fashion houses like Céline LVMH, JACQUEMUS, young designers like Coralie Marabelle, David Koma London or the centre Geroges Pompidou.

Mexichêne is a raw oak wood chair designed in Guadalajara, Mexico and produced in France, by the duo and lovers Thiry Fillatreau.
It was initialy creating during a residency in Mexico, and made in Lava stone by the factory Cera- mica Suro.
