CLCT (Cross Legged Ceramic Table)

‘The CLCT is the next step in my ongoing research in making large ceramic objects, resulting in two tables. It evolved from the “Scraped Earth” project. This time in a more complex shape, different function and material finish while maintaining the same formal language. They have a sponged finish giving them highly tactile qualities. With these tables I am showing ceramics in a new context and am challenging the limits of the material.‘

Rino Claessens is an Eindhoven based designer who recently graduated from the Public & Private department at the Design Academy Eindhoven. He has an intuitive but considered approach to design, focusing on the materiality while applying a modest use of shape. The work results from a search to understand materials and processes. He does so by physically experimenting with them: thinking through making.
