WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE by MATHIEU FROSSARD
Mathieu is a French-born maker living and working in France.
He graduated first with a Bachelor in art and design from ESAD in Reims, France, then with a Master in design from the Design Academy in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. Now he is making stuff, mainly in ceramics, mainly using his own hands.
The work of Mathieu Frossard stands somewhere between art, design and craft. Looking at these practices from a distance, he is willing to blur boundaries and break down any sort of hierarchy that might exists between these practices. His work is like a collage of aesthetic references, shapes and materials, offering multiple paths for the viewer to apprehend it.
It questions diverse aspects of contemporary creation like “good taste”, beauty, or function.
The pieces he creates are artifacts gathering thoughts, assessment, interrogations, hopes and fears about the contemporary era he (and other persons) lives in.
MATERIALS :
Earthenware, glaze.
DIMENSIONS :
H 34 x 26 x 26 cm
Unique piece handmade in France
